Holding the line.
I nearly didn’t bother with numero cinco, but I received a complimentary WhatsApp about the blog out of the blue yesterday (yes that really happened), so I took it as divine intervention. Therefore, it’s a brief one.
Q2 is now upon us; it’s the usual time to reflect on what’s come before. We’ve built some solid foundations for future success and are ahead in some metrics, but ultimately, we’re still short of where we need to be results-wise.
We’re officially up and running—no longer cushioned by the just-starting-out zone and now in the need-to-get-shit-done zone. It’s that awkward phase of building where the workload is at its peak, but the big wins haven’t landed yet. Maximum grind, minimum glory.
My go-to self-speak right now is hold the line. It’s pretty easy to get tweaky—and I do, occasionally. But the only way out is through.
The Q2 focus is all about doing—if in doubt, do. This is more eloquently framed in the quote below:
“Stress primarily comes from not taking action over something that you can have some control over.” – Jeff Bezos
All in the boat.
Meddon Talent is officially a family business—my very talented wife has joined the team.
She brings steely determination and much-needed bandwidth. Nobody on the planet is more aligned with our goals—a rare thing to recruit for successfully.
Of course, this doubles down on an already nascent business, so it’s not without risk. But it creates a much better balance in our family life.
We’re all now in the boat—no pressure, Captain.

FYI – I drew most of this picture, my daughter would do a much better job.
